Lush Liquid Lipstick in Ambition

First off, I have to say that I LOVE Lush. There is honestly no other brand I feel this passionate about. I’m a vegetarian, and Lush is one of the only big beauty brands that actively protests against animal testing. All of their products are veggie, with some vegan options too (you can read more about this here). I first tried their products on holiday in England, and managed to bring home about half of their product line (this is no exaggeration, I had to pay for overweight luggage :(.

Having said that, I wasn’t sure that their make-up line would be able to live up to their skincare products. I like make-up that doesn’t need reapplying throughout the day (I’m lazy) and I wasn’t sure if a brand like Lush would be able to deliver without using the nasties that other brands use. Enter Lush Liquid Lipstick in Ambition.

Ambition_Pack_Shot

Lush Ambition is a liquid lipstick that comes with a doe foot applicator. It’s not runny or sticky like a lipgloss, but still goes on smoothly. It’s extremely pigmented and needs neat application to look its best.

I love red lips, and I usually buy blue-reds over orange-reds. I think I usually dismiss orange-toned make-up because the colour looks so terrible on me clothes-wise. But I tried Ambition for funsies, and ended up falling in love with it. I think the colour really brightens up my face and gives me the pin-up look I lust after. Something to remember when choosing make-up colours is that those that match your undertones will look the most natural. However I don’t always want to look natural, sometimes I want to look like a 50’s pin-up sailor girl! And that’s when I choose a warm red to contrast with my cool undertones.

Application really is important with such an attention-grabbing colour. Your lips need to be super-smooth, because it will cling to and highlight any dry skin. I use Lush Lip Scrub in Mint Julips to scrub away any dead skin. This stuff tastes delicious and lasts forever, but you can make your own with some sugar and essential oils. I then use a clear lipliner around the edge of my lips before I apply the lipstick with a lip brush. I make sure the colour is evenly applied before blotting with a tissue. I add another coat of Ambition and I’m good to go! The last time I did this the colour lasted through hours of sushi-eating and drinking, and I still had traces of the colour on the next morning.

I am in love with this product! It’s full of good ingredients but doesn’t compromise on pigmentation. It also looks good on a variety of skin tones, as you can see…

Me: Pale skin, cool undertone. It’s showing up a bit pinker in this photo than it does in real life.

  1. Love your review and glad you enjoyed ambition! I’m loving quietly motivated at the moment for my eyes and perspective gives my lips almost like a nude lip effect? Worth checking out next time you visit your local Lush store though :)

    1. They’re all so pretty and so wearable! But it’s really the lasting power that bowls a lady over. We’ll definitely tweet a pic of that combo next time we’re in Lush :)
