Kid Cudi and Perfume: Day n Night

When I first heard that one was ‘meant’ to have a different perfume for day and night, I felt like that was something I’d have when I was a real grown up. Also, that song by Kid Cudi – Day N Night, was the second thing that came to mind, proving that I am not yet a real grown up. I am happy to report that I do now have one perfume that I like to wear during the day and another that I like to wear during the evening. Do not let this fool you, I am still not a real grown up (today I laughed at a dirty word during a meeting with senior people, really).

Day: The Body Shop Love Etc – Sun Kiss (Limited Edition)

Ok, it says it’s a limited edition but you can actually still buy it from The Body Shop. I love this scent. It’s light, fun and summery. I feel like it has some fruity undertones, and I remember reading somewhere that it smells like jasmine and nectarines? While I was studying I worked promotions part-time and a couple of years ago I was one of those irritating people in a shopping centre who wanted you to try perfume. We had to read up about what each perfume was supposed to smell like, and I could never smell the ‘hint of elderflower’ or whatever it was. Because of that I’m a bit sceptical about what perfumes smell like, but I can’t exactly just tell you that this smells ‘nice’. I can tell you that I will definitely buy another bottle of this when it runs out. I can also tell you that it is the perfect scent for summer, and even when I wear it in winter I daydream of beaches, cocktails and fun.

[Disclaimer: I do wear another perfume quite often, and it’s one that I’d rather not admit to owning. I won Britney Spear Fantasy from Glamour Magazine. I wear it to work mostly and I get so many comments from the other ladies in the office, they love it.]

Night: Bvlgari Omnia Amethyste

This perfume chose me. That sounds a bit more impressive than it is. I love purple and I’m slightly obsessed with amethysts. This perfume was given to me, and I’ve been in love ever since.  According to some research I did, this perfume has notes of green sap, pink grapefruit, iris, rose, heliotrope and solar woods (um what?). I personally cannot identify any of those notes, but I can say it has an earthy-citrus kind of smell, which I really like.  I find this a bit heavier than the Love Etc – Sun Kissed, which is why I use it at night. I also feel very fancy when I’m all dressed up and I get to spray on some Bvlgari perfume before I go out. I’m not sure if I’d buy this perfume again, even though I love it so much, I’m just not convinced that I can justify spending over R700 on a bottle of liquid. I’m conflicted.

This is the third perfume from Bvlgari in the Omnia range and after smelling the others it is still my favourite. The bottle is also really cool, although occasionally I forget how to use it, clearly not a real grown-up yet (if you needed more proof). I’ve seen quite a bit of hate online about the bottle design weirdly, I don’t really understand it. If you have any of the perfumes from the Omnia range – let me know what you think of the bottle.

So, I now have a Day N Night (eh eh eh eh) perfume, and because of this I like to think that I’m on my way to being a real grown up. Maybe. Let me know what your favourite perfumes are, and if you also have weird ideas of things that make you a REAL grown up coz I’d love to hear those too.

  1. This design is incredible! You most certainly know how to keep a reader amused.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved
to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
    Too cool!
