You Put the Lime in The Coconut (not really) Fruit Basket Nails

That song. Man, it’s amazing. It’s like summer in a song. And it reminds me of my mom who always sings: “you put the lion in the coconut”. Which logistically doesn’t make sense but anyway the title is sort of irrelevant in this case. This nail tut is wonderful to say the least, but it’s all about a fruit basket. But for your nails. #winning #classy

Gather your tools: we’re using Revlon Nail Enamel in Tangerine*, Revlon Nail Art CHALKBOARD Matte Nail Enamel in Study Date*, Revlon Nail Care ColorStay Gold Standard Top Coat and Mr Price’s Fruity Nail Art (available here). They’re super cute mini strawberries, naartjies, apple slices and oranges.

Start off by painting your nails a solid orange with the Revlon Tangerine nail enamel. This is fairly sheer with a slight gold pigment in it. I used two thick coats allowing them to dry between coats and then leaving them for a good long while to dry solidly to avoid any smudges.

Next up, using the Revlon Nail Art CHALKBOARD Matte Nail Enamel in Study Date using only the peach side (it has a very fine brush making this easier than it look) draw diagonal lines across each nail in each direction. I’m really impressed with these nail art pens not only because I’ve been desperately looking for a matte black but the brush on the nail art side is not only fine bust also a bit longer making it feel like a paint brush. The shape of the bottle was a bit strange at first but I got used to it quite quickly.

Finally apply a layer of your top coat and quickly press on your fruits. Before it has time to dry, quickly apply another layer of top coat. I only did a fruity accent nail because to me, an accent nail is a subtle way of say I’m cool but not too cool. Ya know?!

Love and fruity talons
