90’s Fly Girl Look

Taking us back to the 90’s, a time where we looked up to older cousins* and dreamed of wet look curls and chunky-heeled black combat boots can often result in some great edgy fashion but in terms of beauty, whoa, it’s a little scary at times. I wont lie here, I am going back to my 6 year old wishes of a perm and a huge shout out to dark lip liner and light lipstick and brown, flat lippie (SPECIAL MENTION: Revlon’s Coffeebean and Toast of New York lipsticks) with too light foundation. Ghhh… We’ve found this gorgeous look inspired by In living Colour’s Fly Girlz (where Jennifer Lopez had her start as a back up dancer) which has been updated to look rather chic for 2014’s 90’s revival.

Now rock those sleek, pulled back buns or a big tight curl pouf like good ol’ Jenny from the Block! To see her in action in her Fly Girl Glory here’s my favourite youtube clip

Love, jelly sandles, high-waisted jeans, John Lennon glasses and Montell Jordan tracks.

P.S If you’re coveting 90’s nostalgia and are old enough to have actual 90’s nostalgia, go and watch UK’s My Mad Fat Diary. It’s wonderful, has a brilliant soundtrack and immediately reminds me of being 6 and learning a lot about music and cool things from my teenage cousins. They were that cool to me.
