About a year ago I really got into watching youtube videos. I’m sure, like most people, I found out about this new world of make-up through Wayne Goss videos. Then I started to subscribe to others that the YTs I subscribed to recommended and now it’s become one of my favourite past times!
I love to learn, I love to see the lives of other people and I just LOVE how each girl has something amazing to contribute towards their industry.
Chloe Morello – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLFW3EKD2My9swWH4eTLaYw
First up. Chloe Morello. She’s a 23 year old Australian who used to work at a crematorium weirdly enough and you would never guess it if you followed her life! Her style is uber feminine and pretty and every now and then she whips out an edgy look. This girl is so naturally beautiful and her technique isn’t very complicated so her tutorials are very each to learn from but I mostly follow her because I just love her personality and although she can come across as high maintenance she has this amazing sense of humour and doesn’t take herself seriously at all.
Lauren Curtis – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXbQzhqSvgVZTUyi1T4AU3w
Lauren is the most popular TYer in Australia with over 1 million followers! I think she was the first person I ever subscribed to! I like to see how she does her make-up because she’s blonde, blue-eyed and has long hair. She’s naturally pale but tans the shit out of her body so I think she tends to look more on the oros side of life but her make-up is always flawless non the less. She also has a wicked sense of humour and lives in the same area in Sydney that I lived in so I like to live vicariously through her.
Jaclyn Hill – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6jgzx2g3nlbaYkd8EMweKA
What can I say about Jaclyn? If we lived in the same place we’d be besties. This girl is hilarious. And she is as amazing with make-up as she is funny. Her looks are super polished, high glamour cut creases. We have a similar eye shape so I love to see what she can and my god she is good. But the best thing about Jaclyn videos are the endings where she always has a blooper reel. Honestly if I could recommend one TYer I would say go check out Jaclyn just for those.
I love to watch Shan’s stuff for so many reasons. 1) She is the most committed Youtuber and posts videos three times a week which is awesome! 2) She is amazing with her shadow colour selection and pulls very difference looks together perfectly 3) She’s a kiwi and so I automatically love her. Shan is really down to earth and doesn’t talk like a girly girl (no squealing or giggling – not that that’s bad, I just don’t want to watch it) yet she transforms herself into something pretty stunning at the end of her vids. I’m always stunned at how well she does that.
Nikkitutorials – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzTKskwIc_-a0cGvCXA848Q
Nikki is a relatively new addition to my subscriptions and I instantly fell in love after watching my first video of hers! She’s a Dutch hair and make-up artist and I think she’s only 19 but my god the talent this girl posses is unreal. And again, fucking funny. The way her make-up looks is by far my favourite and she always looks flawless. Not all the ladies I follow are practicing make-up artists but Nikki is a true pro. She has pretty small lids yet she can recreate any look on herself. Honestly this girl is the bomb. And so funny. I know I’ve said that already but she deserves the cred.
Helen Melonlady – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuyoMfEQ224CmC_oZF7tcsg
I watch Helen because she is just fun and exactly who I want to be. She doesn’t take anything seriously and although her channel is more like a vlog and less make-up orientated I love to watch her style things and talk about anything under the sun because she is amazeballs. She recently made a video in response to people asking her if she gets drunk when she films. So she actually got drunk and filmed a video just to show people what she’s really like drunk.
Chrissy is the undeniable champion of the cut crease look. If you want to learn how it’s done, watch one of her tutorials. She’s an excellent teacher and even goes so far as to tell you how to hold your brush correctly when you blend. She’s a total pro and is super sweet too and I really like her choice of colours with her looks. But she is definitely one of the best teachers and I love her for that. It’s like attending a make-up class watching her tuts.
The queens of Youtube! These are a sister duo of make-up artists who’ve been filming for their channel since the dawn of online tutorials. These ladies are professional and creative and just the coolest women! I wouldn’t say that I’ve ever particularly had role models in my life, just generally people that inspire me, but I love these women and I admire them so much. They’re also the creators of Real Techniques brushes and if anyone owns one you’ll know just how great they are. Just like the sisters!
ChelseaWears – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyBgBxEuMM2sXMEuHHu8X6Q
I love Chelsea because she swears constantly and frequently through every video and also has a sarcastic comment to everything! Her channel is also more like a vlog but I love her and would watch anything that she’d talk about. We’d be fast friends her and I. Sometimes she’ll talk about make-up but most of the time she’ll go off on a tangent and talk about anything but the make-up. LOVE THIS WOMAN!
cflowermakeup – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKBbGPHNyH6g_yxQj91VSAw
Crap what’s her name? Jenny I think? Anywho cflower creates some flawless eye make-up looks. She’s pretty underrated but incredibly talented with her smokey-eye looks. And she has the best lash selection every time. Her look is very romantic and her videos are super easy to follow but damn she is so good I don’t think I’ll ever get to her level. Check out some of her vids to see what I mean.
I’m sure there are many other ladies and gents out their that I’ll discover over the years but for right now these are the girls in my life that I interact with almost daily. Have you got any YTers that you love to watch? Let me know who some of your suggestions are, I’d love to watch them!
