Remember Rimmel’s Apocalips? Well, they have a new range out called Provocalips, astounding name I know, and Rimmel promises to provide a kiss-proof, trouble proof pout with this new range.
Rimmel Provovalips (R99.95)
Provocalips delivers hi-impact endless colour with a delectably glossy finnish. The intense colour is locked in place for up to 16 hours. It’s kiss-proof, food-proof and transfer-proof, only coming off when you want it to so you can go wild without a trace. There’s no tightness or dryness and lips stay moisturised all day long.
This type of liquid lipstick has one end containing the colour while the other has the lock and shine formula. The lock and shine formula is apparently what keeps the colour “sealed” to the lips and prevents bleeding or smudging. The packaging is pretty cute, with little kiss prints on the lock and shine side and both ends have doe-foot applicators.
I don’t really get the formula of these liquid lipsticks. As you can see by the swatches these aren’t very pigmented at all, they are quite greasy in a way that makes them easy to apply but you definitely have to apply more than one coat to see the true colour. The red is a gorgeous brick shade, a little choppy but super vampy, the mauve is the least pigmented but is a very unique colour and I really like that it’s muted and the pink is the most pigmented and vibrant.
Okay so they claim to last 16hrs, not sure about the full 16 but they definitely do last and they did not transfer at all when I kissed the back of my hand, like at all! I do think the top clear coat helps keep the colour on your lips and I totally agree that there is no tightness or pulling once the colour has set. The top coat does keep your lips well moisturised.
For step 1 you need to apply the colour first and allow it to dry completely then for step 2, apply the clear gloss as a top coat. Although these lipsticks tend to take a long time to fully dry matte, the clear coat will make it look a little glossy until that too dries completely. I did have to use a lip brush to apply on the bottom lip because a doe-foot applicator just doesn’t cut it for me with liquid lippies.
I think these are a lovely range from Rimmel, the colour selection is great but I think that’s a given for Rimmel as they really do think about the shades they bring out for most of their products. The longevity is impressive even if the formula is not my favourite from the drugstore and these guys really will not budge! So if you’ll looking for long lasting colour maybe try out Provocalips and let us know what you think!
Have any you guys tried this range? What are your thoughts? Any colours that you would recommend?
