Rimmel Extra Super Lash Waterproof Mascara Review

In the last year or so I have found my holy grail of mascaras, the Rimmel Extra Super Lash Waterproof mascara in black, and I thought I’d give a review and show you how I get the most out of this little wonder.

I went looking for a waterproof mascara one day after finally making the connection that my lashes just were not holding their curl because I was using regular mascara, so off I went to pick up the cheapest one. It was such a chance buy and although I have used waterproof mascaras before and found them to be a total pain in the ass to remove and of a very tacky formula and as someone who likes their mascaras the drier the better I was very surprised by how light the consistency of this mascara was.

Lash building formula for highly defined lashes. No clumps!

Packaging  8.5 /10

I really like this mascara’s packing. No excess plastic or silly bulky designs and I think the blue Union Jack is pretty cool. The wand has one of my favourite styles, with natural bristles and a tapered end that makes it super easy to coat the inner and outer lashes.

Pigmentation 7/10

It’s a standard black mascara, I guess it could be a bit darker but to be totally honest I didn’t really think about it until I did this review. It’s good enough for me!

Longevity  8/10

Since it is waterproof the longevity is far superior to a non-waterproof formula. I can wear this on my lower lashes with no transfer throughout the day – a must for me!

Application   8/10

Because of it’s wand head it’s just the easiest mascara to use and the claims are correct, there is 0 clumping!

Overall    8.5/10

I really do love this mascara, it’s so easy to remove at the end of the day, there is no transfer, holds a curl all day long aaaaand is under R90!

Top row: right eye curled only. One coat of mascara, none on left eye. Bottom row: One coat of mascara on both eyes, only right eye curled.

So the other part of this review is showing you what a waterproof mascara can do to maintain curled eyelashes. I used my Tweezerman eyelash curler to curl my right eye only to show you the difference. It’s almost as if the curler fans the lashes out as it lifts them. By bending the lashes backwards it gives the appearance of added length and with a couple coats of mascara can totally change how open your eyes appear.

Now here is a photo with both my lashes curled. It opens my eyes significantly and I don’t wear falsies anymore because I am so happy with how much longer and fuller my lashes are when they are curled.

Do any of you believe in the power of an eyelash curler and waterproof mascara like I do? I want to know!
